Safeguarding in Schools: Ensuring a Safe and Supportive Environment.

DSC_7250_Edited.jpg

At HAS, the safety and well-being of our students are our top priority. Safeguarding in schools is about protecting children from harm, ensuring their welfare, and providing a secure environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive.

We are committed to fostering a culture of vigilance, where every member of our school community—staff, students, parents, and visitors—understands their role in keeping children safe. Our safeguarding policies cover areas such as child protection, online safety, mental health support, and anti-bullying initiatives.

By working together, we create a nurturing and inclusive space where students feel protected, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. Explore this page to learn more about our safeguarding measures and how we uphold the highest standards of student care.

Safeguarding Practices

1

Child Protection Policies

HAS is also a safe and secure environment for all students. We abide by the Taiwanese law regarding their child protection policies and have additionally established our own rigorous child protection policies. All teachers are required to read the child protection policies and sign an agreement to them. All teachers are also required to have an FBI (or equivalent) background check and provide a reference check in order to work at our school. Our students' safety is of the utmost importance to us.

2

Anti-Bullying Policies

Bullying in any form—whether physical, verbal, online, or emotional—has no place in our community. Our anti-bullying policy is designed to prevent bullying, address incidents swiftly, and support students who may be affected.

We take a proactive approach by promoting kindness, inclusion, and respect through education, awareness programs, and open communication. Staff, students, and parents are encouraged to report any concerns, and we have clear procedures in place to handle incidents effectively.

Together, we can foster a culture of empathy and understanding, ensuring that every student can learn and grow in a positive and supportive environment.

Social Media Policies

Our social media guidelines ensure a secure digital environment by encouraging respect, privacy, and online safety.

Use social media appropriately and avoid harmful content.

Privacy & Safety – Protect personal information and report concerns.

Appropriate Communication – Staff and students must maintain professional boundaries.

Cyberbullying Prevention – Bullying or harassment online is not tolerated.
